A Collaborative Invitation from Sultan Qaboos University to Dreama Orphan Care Center
At the kind invitation and request of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Sultan Qaboos University, Dreama Orphan Care Center—one of the centers operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work—welcomed a group of university students for field training. This initiative aimed to:
Exchange expertise and foster collaboration in orphan care between Dreama and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
Benefit from Dreama’s accumulated experience in the care, integration, and empowerment of orphans in Qatar.
Explore the center’s specialized capabilities in social and psychological services to help develop future social work professionals.
The intensive training program for the students of the Department of Sociology and Social Work included hands-on experience within Dreama’s Social Services Department and Internal Care Division. The focus was on case follow-up and understanding the operational mechanisms of the center, ensuring maximum benefit for participating students. It also offered them the opportunity to engage in a real-world social work environment and observe best practices in care, empowerment, and social integration of target groups.
From Dreama’s side, Ms. Sheikha Najla bint Ahmed Al Thani, Executive Director of the center, warmly welcomed the trainees, affirming Dreama’s commitment to supporting the next generation of social and psychological specialists. She stated:
“Hosting students from Sultan Qaboos University is part of our social responsibility and mission to build and develop capacities. We are confident that this experience will be fruitful for both sides, enriching the students’ knowledge while offering us fresh perspectives and ideas.”
On this occasion, Ms. Amal Al-Sultiyah, Training Supervisor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, emphasized the importance of such programs in refining students’ skills and deepening their understanding of fieldwork realities. The department noted:
“This training represents a foundational step in preparing qualified national professionals capable of understanding social challenges and developing innovative solutions, in line with the university’s vision of serving the community.”
