The Orphan Care Center “Dreama” organized a training course for social and care service providers, female students of Qatar University trainees in the Department of Social Services, and students of the Doha Institute for Studies, presented by Dr. Wissam Al-Dad, consultant psychiatrist at Dreama. She explained that the center’s procedures, policies, and protocols guide includes the ethical charter for the center’s employees and specialists, and based on the center’s vision and strategy and in accordance with what was stipulated in the founding document and inspired by the goals of the Dreama Center, which directs the center’s work to contribute to providing a safe and stable environment for the target groups in the State of Qatar, we had to develop treatment protocols. It keeps pace with codified international standards in a manner consistent with the specializations and nature of the center’s work. When preparing the guide, the team relied on reviewing international standards in developing the treatment protocol and was guided by the standards codified by the American School of Psychiatry and the protocols issued by the World Health Organization. The team also conducted several brainstorming sessions in which it reviewed what was used, limited and collected information that was compatible with the center’s specializations and its main objectives, analyzed the practical aspect regarding cases of sexual violence against children, and developed a theoretical framework that works to achieve the main goal, which is to provide a safe and stable environment for orphans.
