Dreama continues to provide awareness workshops on (great strides) campaign
As part of the dynamic and constructive role played by The Orphans Care Center (DREAMA) in the Qatari community, DREMA continues the awareness workshops for the "Great Strides" campaign which started in September 2018 continuing to raise awareness messages on Social Media or through lectures and awareness workshops for students of Community College, Academic Bridge, Qatar University and Qatar Social Work and its centers Ehsan, Nama, Wifaq, Shafallah and Best Bodies whom attended a special workshop held at DREAMA and witnessed a large audience from these entities. The campaign aims to promote ethical behaviours, instil the spirit of communal solidarity and the integration of orphans into society. This campaign includes a range of educational, psychological and social values that the Center strives to promote among young people to build an active persona and established societies. The campaign targets all members of the society, from government institutions, public and private bodies to students and various media. DREAMA has chosen a campaign slogan that embodies all the educational, psychological and social values that connect us to a society that seeks to embrace every great creation by applying the values DREAMA seeks and work diligently to spread in the society. In a special speech on the campaign "Great Strides”, Mrs Maryam Bint Ali Bin Nasser Al-Misnad, The Executive Director of the Orphans Care Centre assured that “One of the strongest investments in societies is to raise awareness about social issues and diversify our awareness tools so that we can leave a clear impression of excellence. A problem is dealt with in a way that we focus on competing the negative behaviours with positive ones which in turn will eradicate the negative behaviours gradually. Hence, the importance of this campaign and its vital role in contributing effectively to achieving the desired goal that we seek”. “We embarked on a clear vision to achieve social solidarity of a productive kind on social and educational levels. We have developed a plan for the "Great Strides" campaign, which aims through youth-focused workshops to form models of Qatari youth interacting with orphan issues in the society and by achieving (The Example to Follow) model for the young men and women. This model will become an inspiration for all members of the Qatari Society in terms of work methods and the realization of the principle of social solidarity with the children of Orphans Care Center". “The development of the needs of orphans as a social group in the State of Qatar forces us to develop means to involve the society in achieving the goals of DREAMA to empower orphans and integrate them into society. The initiative "Great Strides" is one of the key initiatives in promoting social values that contribute to strengthening ties between the Center's children and the rest of Qatari society”. “The "Great Strides" campaign is in line with the strategy and objectives of DREAMA for the care, empowerment and integration of orphans in society. DREAMA believes that the involvement of the society and its members in this responsibility is an urgent need to reach the desired goal and achieve the strategy of the Center, Through media and awareness campaigns that direct the public and members of the society to positive and correct interaction with orphans, which directly contributes to the building and development of our society in line with the ambition of Qatar, our beloved country”. From His Side, Mr Abdulla Al-Fadhala, Head of Implementation and Follow Up unit at The Social Awareness Bureau – DREAMA, Stressed the importance of this campaign and the great and important role it plays in promoting positive values. “The duration of the campaign is a full month and includes a series of interactive workshops for young people. The training packages for these young people were designed to be an interactive dialogue according to the campaign's awareness values system. Also, to open a and the dialogue with the youth on how to promote and maintain these values. The campaign includes awareness-raising publications on social media platforms, these publications include a range of educational, psychological and social family values. “The campaign urges young people and all members of the family to interact positively as the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood is instilled among them through some motivational and positive phrases and important and influential social advice. These include distancing us from people who are not positive in our lives. Also, there are expressions/phrases to encourage the filling of spare time with hobbies (sport, artistic or cultural) and focus on virtuous morality, which in turn enhances the perception of the individual in the eyes of the society and people, as well as urging adherence to inherited customs and traditions”. Mr Al-Fadhala added “that enhancing the effectiveness of young people participating in the awareness workshops of the campaign will bring positive results to the whole society. The youth, through various means of awareness, have become aware and informed of the issues that concern the society and obstruct its development plans, and they have the duty to change the living reality by strengthening their contact with all members of society, and to promote common values for the benefit of themselves and all society”. One of the lectures was delivered by Mr Abdul Rahman Al-Abdulla, Behavioural Therapist. The lecture included several axes, First was the behavioural axis and how to do brainstorming by the attendees. Then moved to the second axis which is related to the Emotional Status and its impact. The third axis covered instilling values and the fourth was a group exercise on the most positive behaviours of others. The final theme was to review the most important values in the campaign and how to adapt the 16 campaign values and how to these values are acquired. Also, the campaign paid special attention the very important female component of the society. The campaign is aimed at promoting positive values, behaviours and ethics among girls. Among advice for girls through the campaign are to encourage them to realize their dreams and aspirations, and to strive for self-affirmation, and to stay away from everything that could undermine their determination and thwart their attempts to self-expression in line with our traditions and corresponds to the ambitions of our beloved country Qatar.
