Dreama organized the regular forum for foster mothers, Al-Anoud Darwish, an interactive, stimulating atmosphere that reflects positively on foster families. The Orphan Care Center “Dreama” organized a forum for foster mothers entitled (Our Journey Hand in Hand), which comes within the framework of a series of periodic forums organized by the center to enhance the role of foster families and ensure the stability of children in alternative families, in order to achieve the center’s objectives aimed at providing a safe and stable environment and Integrating children into society and providing them with the necessary support by specialists in various fields. A number of foster mothers and specialists at the center participated in the forum. Activities were also allocated for children of foster families at the forum, by preparing a games area and providing various entertainment activities. Al-Anoud Hassan Darwish, Acting Executive Director of the Orphan Care Center “Dreama”, expressed her happiness with the stimulating interactive atmosphere between children, foster families, social workers and psychologists, and stressed the importance of these forums, which contribute greatly to the required rapprochement process, and noted the humanitarian role played by families. The incubator, and pointed out the keenness of the “Dreama” Center to hold this forum periodically with the participation of foster families. The forum’s program included a workshop (Empowerment with Love) presented by Ms. Khawla Al-Buainain, a social worker and life coach, explaining the difference between the concepts of care, which means dependency, enhancing need, and reducing opportunities, and empowerment. Which means taking responsibility, developing capabilities, and increasing growth opportunities. She pointed out that the “Our Journey, Hand in Hand” forum stems from the principles of partnership, continuity, and empowering the foster family to empower the child. She pointed out that empowerment with love is characterized by the fact that it starts from (intentions of love) and not intentions of fear, as the intentions of love represent kindness, gentleness, reward, encouragement, support, progression, pleasure, play, patience, understanding of the nature of age stages, clarity in goals, and enjoyment of the journey of education and empowerment. As for the intentions of fear, they are represented by cruelty, intimidation, lack of understanding of age stages, lack of patience, tendency toward tyranny, rushing results, excessive pampering or cruelty, and lack of enjoyment of the journey of education and empowerment with the child. She also elaborated on the results of empowerment with love (a happy mother and child, enjoying the journey of empowerment, a fruitful partnership with Dreama, and achieving empowerment with love) and explained at the end of the workshop the empowerment plan model that every foster mother will use to set goals for her foster children in partnership with the Dreama Center. The mothers were distributed into work groups under the supervision of social and psychological specialists to guide them on how to formulate empowerment goals and develop a plan to follow them up with them. Foster mothers also thanked Dreama for organizing such meetings.
