Under the slogan Different but We Are One DREEMA Celebrates Arab Child Day, 2019. The Orphan Care Center (DREAMA), one of the centers under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, celebrated the Arab Child Day, 2019, under the slogan " Different, but We Are One ". This day is celebrated on the 1st of October every year, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of the child " Mohammed Al-Durra " shot by the Israeli occupation. A number of activities, events and workshops are held every year reflecting the cultures of the Arab world. These activities aim to introduce other Arab cultures to the community with view to convergence of views, strengthen ties of coexistence and understanding with children of the world, and highlight the importance of unity and cohesion among Arab peoples. The Orphan Care Center (DREAMA) concluded the celebration of the Arab Child Day, 2019 in Qatar Mall, with the participation of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), the Family Counseling Center (WIFAQ), Shafallah and Bestbuddies Centers and Al Noor Center, under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work. The celebration was marked by a number of awareness activities related to childhood and family, in a pleasant and happy atmosphere. The children of the Center were keen to attend the celebration, which included awareness messages to be spread among members of the community about the dangers of social discrimination and promote a positive view of orphans, and that the responsibility towards orphans is a responsibility of the community. On this occasion, Ms. Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, the Executive Director of Dreama said that the celebration of the Arab Child Day comes within the framework of caring for children and preserving their dignity, based on the fundamental fact that children are the nucleus of community's happiness and the most valuable treasures of the country . She added that Dreama continues to instill awareness among all segments of community on childhood, a task undertaken by institutions and centers under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, out of our belief that their participation should be effective and valuable in building man starting from childhood, through providing programs and services for children to enrich their knowledge, and make them devoted to noble values, thus making them future leaders in academic and professional fields. For her part, Mrs. Nour Al Mohannadi, Director of the Social Awareness Office in Dreama said that the annual celebration of the Arab Child Day stems from a sense of responsibility and partnership to serve the targeted group. She highlighted the specific community initiatives that give the child attention and priority, and works to build his personality, empower him, develop his skills, and give him full rights and opportunities, which make him knowledgeable person able to serve his country and community. The celebration of the Arab Child Day falls on October 1st, every year, which is the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Palestinian child, "Mohammed al-Durra" by shots fired by the Israeli occupation forces on 30 September, 2000. Dreama has been celebrating the Arab Child Day along the past years.
