Qatari designer Alia Al Suwaidi launched her first exhibition of sports abayas, which is a unique precedent of its kind in Qatar and the world. Al Arabi, in cooperation with the Dreama Center for Empowerment and Care of Orphans, and Alia Al Suwaidi is one of the volunteers in the “Ajaweed Dreama” initiative, which seeks to integrate orphans by involving them in the experiences of entrepreneurs and development and community projects, as well as pushing them into the investment environment in Qatar. The exhibition, which supports women's sports in addition to its support for customs and traditions, comes within the Ajaweed Dreama initiative launched by the center last year, with the aim of attracting community cooperation in the field of development, rehabilitation and training of orphans. “Ajaweed Dreama” is an initiative organized by the center to attract all those with skills, projects and innovations. Alia Al Suwaidi organized her first fashion show on the stage of the Qatar National Theater on the evening of January 14 at seven o’clock, in the presence of Amal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, the wife of His Excellency the German Ambassador to the State of Qatar, and the wife of His Excellency the Ambassador of Bangladesh. The Dreama Center operates According to a new strategy that it recently introduced as the first center in the region to adopt the concept of economic and professional empowerment for orphans and train them on investment concepts such as feasibility studies, strategic planning, and organizing economic projects. It is worth noting that one of the basic pillars of this strategy aims to mobilize the business community humanitarianly, push it towards development work, and bring the people of the center to its knees. The State of Qatar ranks fourth globally in terms of ease of financing small and medium enterprises, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2019 issued by the World Economic Forum (Davos). It is expected that the proceeds from the Alia Sports Abayas exhibition will be provided entirely to the children of Dreama, and designer Alia Al Suwaidi was keen to involve the center’s girls in the project with the aim of empowering them with the means of independent living after they graduate from Dreama. In this context, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Executive Director of the Dreama Center, says that the primary goal of these initiatives is to support all purposeful development work and raise the standard of living of the target groups that we sponsor. In addition to revitalizing the local market with new projects and ideas that attract the less fortunate groups in society in order to achieve the concepts of social justice and equality in the distribution of opportunities. According to Al-Misnad, these initiatives are the result of the superiority of Qatari girls and women in the entrepreneurship and investment sector, which prompts us to re-explore the capabilities of girls and give them the opportunity to express their ideas and aspirations. There are many urgent details in this area that there is not enough room to discuss them. She added that the Alia Al Suwaidi project is one of the pioneering projects in the field of sports and investment, and it is also a project that highlights the importance of preserving Qatari and Islamic customs and not conflicting with the requirements of modern life and the aspirations of women. She extended her sincere thanks to the entities supporting the Alia Exhibition, represented by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Qatar National Theater, which hosted the fashion show, the Afra Al Marri Center, a volunteer in Ajaweed and the owner of a beauty salon, for her contribution to the equipment for the beauty exhibition, and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work. The Honorable Afra Hamad Al Marri, a beauty expert and owner of the Afra Beauty Center and a volunteer at Ajaweed Dreama, extended her sincere thanks to Dreama for giving it the opportunity to make its contribution to the Alia Sports Abayas Exhibition, which included preparing the models’ looks, makeup, accessories, etc. I was also happy to work with Qatari designer Alia Al Suwaidi in her first exhibition of sports abayas and designs that keep pace with the speed of the times and suit the Qatari identity. I am proud to be one of the Ajaweed Dreama and for continuing my contribution to Dreama and opening the doors of the Afra Beauty Center to provide its services to Dreama members, in addition to offering beauty, skin and hair care courses. And others. . The idea of the project and the challenges of globalization: The issues of unconscious openness and globalization in its cultural aspect threaten basic pillars of society related to the concept of decency and morality on the one hand, and the urgent desire to join the ranks of global progress on the other hand. The dialogue surrounding the idea of the sports abaya project raised questions: What is the relationship between sports and the traditional dress of Gulf women? Is it possible to combine them? Why does the project come at this time? Alia Al-Suwaidi, the owner of the project, answers that the idea, in short, is an attempt to confirm that modesty and traditional dress do not contradict freedom. From Alia’s point of view, freedom is freedom of will that is not hindered by any type of clothing. Alia says: I was keen to design abayas that allow all women to practice sports, as it is a basic right for them and not limited to one gender only. I say that practicing sports does not necessarily mean abandoning modesty, because I believe with certainty that adherence to the basic principles of Islam does not conflict with all the requirements of the times, and I wanted to prove that through my designs that will soon be presented in the local market. Alia Al Suwaidi continues by saying: Gulf women must be free
